I shot this in my garage with a white background and lots of lights. (blew a fuse twice actually much to my mom's disliking)

720/24p
shutter to 1/120
scene file 3 "spark"
very minimal CC in post

Let me know what you think thanks!

Extremely Clean footage. Should of had a storyline. Performance scenes didn't keep me watching the video.

Maybe even a little acting.

They're not really an acoustic band so we just did this as a quick thing.. almost a test. Storyline definitely for future videos, thanks for the feedback!

Looks absolutely outstanding to me! The only thing missing was the PC and Mac guys.

I don't have any profound and intelligent editorial recommendations -- but I do think your production is truly outstanding -- some of the best HMC studio style footage I've seen! Also, your audio is essentially flawless!

Great job!

looks good,

what lights did you use on the wight wall/background? and how far was the singer from the wall?

did you have to use any french flags to help control light?

A smith victor lighting kit... 600w each. Had all 3 just pointing at the white background with the doors wide open. Also put cheap clamp lights from Lowes on the floor pointing up at the white sheet.

Then I hung 2 oriental lanterns in front of them so like beside the camera.

They all stood about... 10 feet from the wall or so.

Thomas.. That is a very very nice white limbo shot and totally love the front lighting. Perfectly exposed.. nice.

I have done this quite a different way when I do it. I buy some plastic/white painters drop clothes and I light this from behind and turn it into a giant white limbo background and then I light the talent from the front. Very easy to set up and you can make it as big and as long a shot as you want. You might want to try that too if you have the space and want a different look too.

here's some samples.. might be kind of large quicktime files too.

VERY Cool advice Justyn! I'm definitely going to look into this and give it a shot. So these sheets are opaque enough to let light through and make it bright?

Thomas.. yes they are. Make sure though that you get the ones that are paper and plastic. PUt the plastic side towards the lights and the paper towards the talent. It creates a huge softlight. I have use this also as a fill and a large soft key and it works well. To your eye you will see the hotspots but to the camera it'll be totally white. The only other thing is that sometimes its good to double up on the drop clothes as they sometimes have small holes and then you get lens flares. The clothes themselves are really cheap though.. Like 4 bucks and they are 10x12s. If you have a hardtime geting them, I could pick them up and ship them too you. I think they are great for a lot of things... You can use them as diffusion in front of the sun on sunny days outside.. They become a bit of a sail, but they do work for that too... Not as nice as a silk, but they are cheap and you can throw them away when done.

Couple of hints too: Use your zebras to light till you get passed a 100 IRE. Space out the lights too to make sure you cover the whole area. If you don't get it all covered you might get some yellow tinting from the paper as it's not completely white till you blow it out.

also, the coolest thing is that you can just use cheap worklights to get the effect or what I use are those cheap clip on worklights from Lowes and I buy the 500 watt photoflood bulbs. Works really well. You could get 6 clip on lights with 6 bulbs all for about a 100 bucks and that's 3000 watts of power. I like 'em in a pinch as they work well and super cheap.

Nice and very clean, WOW! Good work like the way you are able to really see everything well and it is very clean.

That was awesome Thomas!
Can't wait till I get my 150. I smile every time I see stuff like this.
BTW, The band is pretty cool, great song.
