accidentally filmed some 24p footage in LP mode

Hey Guys,
during a shoot on the 100A with the P+S Technik system, one of the cameras was accidentally switched to LP mode. Any idea on the best way to salvage the footage? I know i can create a dub in SP, but wondered if anyone out there knew a better way. Will be editing in FCP. Would love to minimize image degredation.

any help appreciated. thanks,

jk

The compression of SP and LP are identical (image quality is the same), but with the slower tape transport speed of LP you do risk a higher probability of drop outs. The idea of dubbing to another tape is the correct approach and should present no problems.

accidentally switched? Its not like its a button on the side of the camera. Keep those set monkeys away from your camera :)

"Off with his head, Off with his head," chanted the crowd of 24p worshipers

to save yourself, you must now go before the 24p God with an offering, say, something like two twinkies and hershie's kiss outa do it.

hey, hectic shoot. the camera ops got overwhelmed or something. don't know how it happened, but i guess it did.
keep your arms and legs inside the cart at all times. thank you and enjoy your ride on the Blue Streak.

I've done the same thing...accidentally switched to LP without a clue how.

But it would come in useful for some things. Like a continuous shot longer than an hour.

You old guys probably don't remember how something like that would be useful, though.

Hey! I resemble that comment!

I actually use the LP settings quite a bit when filming weddings. It is not uncommon for the ceremony to come dangerously close to an hour long, and I would rather risk a single drop out, then clumsily fumbling for a tape during the middle of it. I have never had a serious dropout shooting in LP, maybe seen 2 in the last 10 weddings that I have shot, at least in the footage that I have used. It really is not as dangerous as everybody makes it out to be. Now, saying that, whenever I shoot any kind of narrative work, it is always SP, but that's another story.

LP may be useful. personally i did shoot a concert 'about an hour' long which ended up being little more. i wouldnt have done it with sp. single camera, no break, no editing..
