Hello there, I droped my DVX battery and... crack open. I've used gaffer tape and still works... I know, you 'll say why don't you just buy another one, thing is, I need it urgently tomorrow. question: would it be dangerous for the camera to use it anyway?is this a stupid question? Ladies and gentelmen, thanks in advance.

Yes, it could be dangerous to use it. Messing around with power supplies could potentially blow your camera...

That being said, what exactly does the battery look like now? where is it cracked, and what battery is it? the stock one?

I've seen a LOT of battery's where just the casing popped open a bit, and no internal damage was done. If that was the case, I'd use it tomorrow, but order a new one right now.

there you go, this is how it looks like, it's a dvx battery

That's horrifying. Yea, I wouldn't mess with stuff like power supplies, because the dvx needs a even stream and if it got like a jolt or something, who knows what would happen.

Id tape up the battery, get a volt meter and check it while you shake/bounce it a bit. If it shows a steady voltage, your "probably" OK to use it.............Looks to me like nothing is damaged except the case.

Note: I said it's "probably" OK................if in doubt dont use it.

I second that - I think the battery looks a lot worse than it is. Looks like it cracked open right on a natural seam. You could probably Krazy glue it together and keep on shooting, assuming no shorts or loose connections.
