access violation??

I have been working on a project for some time and as I tried to open a bin I havent had problems with before, i get the following error:

An ACCESS VIOLATION exception occurred. For more information see the error log: C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Express Pro HD\Avid FAtalErrorReports\Exception_2005.08.08_18.10.20

I looked on the drive where the files are and everything is there...so I dont really know whats up. The thing that worries me is that the only thing that has happened between when it worked fine and now is that i got bombed with spyware that is messing with my internet explorer. I hope that has nothing to do with it.

Pleeezze. Any help would be very appreciated!! Thanks!

Hmmm, not sure what's going on. Did you read the error log?

I recommend getting rid of all that Spyware by using a combo of Ad-aware, Spybot S&D and Spywareblaster. Oh, and dump IE - use Firefox!

Definitely ... keep your editing machine as far away from the net as possible and only install the software you need for editing, making DVDs etc. You will have a much more stable and quicker machine if you do.

I knew I would be repremanded for the internet thing...but just to rule that out...I just reinstalled my entire OS and just avid and it is still happening. so...internet spyware aside...can anyone lend a hand?

I'm with DC.

What did the log error say? !!

...

Once in a while I get a weird message like this. Have you done a disk defrag lately?

Have you tried re-linking to your media?

How full is the disk you have the media on?

heres the "exception" that was produced as a result of the access violation.

Anyone who can make sense of that...bless you. Now this happens only when I try to open one of the two bins in this project. When I try and open the other bin, I have no problem. Anyone...???

And I'm with Oigflabble & Pookie. :) Hey, that sounds like a sock puppet show! :D

p.s. LAFilmaker: I live in North Hollywood also. So, if you ever need any resources, blah blah blah - just hit me up. I'm a firm believer in networking with good, helpful people, especially in THIS town. :)

Thanks for you help guys...i probably should have never mentioned the spyware thing, it just tainted averyones response to result in corrupt files. I was able to fix the problem for anyone whom has this problem in the future. Heres what I did:

Avid has a "best practices" article on their website that includes a file that will set all of your computers settings to optomize Avid...including drive/folder accesss.

Next, I upgraded to 5.1.6 from 5.1.2 because there was also an article on Avid's website that said that the upgrade fixed alot of access_violation problems that many people were having.

Hope this helps someone else...problems like this really suck!!

Also, DC, good to hear man...I am actually going to be shooting another show/punk concert soon that I will need seven cameramen. If I end up short I will definately hit you up (there is some pay) if you own or have access to a dvx100 or "a". Thanks for the info!!!

Right on, thanks! :) And yes, I have a DVX100A. So just lemme know in advance.

Best,

Oh, can you post that link to the "best practices?" I'm really interested in that file.

Thanks,
