AC POWER SUPPLY - a dud?

Hello..
anyone had a similar issue with their DVX 100a:

I have a DE-852D power adapter/charger which has only ever worked as a battery charger. I mainly do corporate/creative type video work - so I am never reliant on AC power, I have 3 large batteries which get me through shoots. I dont use the camera to log footage as I have a deck for that purpose.... it would be nice to have this feature in case my batteries fail me.... in studio etc...

This thing has never worked as a direct AC power supply. WTF?
any ideas?

Hmm, I have never even tried to use my charger as AC power for my DVX, I will have to try that and see if it works right.
 
I've shot & used the AC adapter all the time as to avoid constantly recharging & wear & tear on the batteries if possible. It should work fine. I'm looking to get a replacement charging unit only (the white component that fits into the battery unit on the back of the camera) not the black battery charger itself. Anyone know the part number for that piece?
 
Hmmm...I have the same problem. Actually I used a friends DVX100a and it did the same thing. Weird. I thought I was doing something wrong...maybe it just wasn't working!?
 
Are you setting it up according to the manual? Are you putting the grey flat piece into the battery slot of the camera?

I just bought a DVX100P second hand, and as i bought it, i was told I too had a problem with my power. what i've found is that no matter how long i try to charge any battery, they will only last at most 5 minutes/ however, I can AC power my camera all I want. I want to just buy a new one, but it appears the B model of my AG-DVX100P doesnt have that same lil white part that sticks in my power slot.
 
It might be that the batteries you have are bad, not the adapter...
Also, you know that you can not charge batteries AND power the camera at the same time?
 
Not sure if this is related but when using the AC adapter with your DVX you cant charge a battery at the same time. If you do put a battery in or have one in whilst trying to use the ac adapter it will revert to charger priority.
 
I have the same problem. I slide that flat piece with the dc input onto the AC Charger adaptor. Now, the are both connected together. So, I plug the AC side plug into an outlet and I plug the DC side to the back of the DVX and it doesn't power on at all.
