what is the cheapest xlr converter to hook up one XLR mic to my HV20? ones i have found are dual XLR, or have both in and out puts... i just want the cheapest that has one XLR input for 1 XLR mic.. and any1 help me ? - thanks marty.

cheapest is to just get a cable. If you don't want to record two mics on two different tracks you don't really need a beachtek.

A cable doesn't give you phantom power which pretty much limits you to the cheapest mic that runs on battery.

The cheapest adapter with phantom power is the Beachtek DXA-6.

Well, the NTG-2 is regarded a pretty good mic for what it does and it doesn't need phantom power. If he is looking for the cheapest solution, that and an adapter cable would do it especially since the HV20 hasn't the best pre-amp anyway. Getting a single XRL adapter would be a waste of money IMO because it doesn't really do anything you could not do with just an adapter cable and manual audio control in the camera. It you really want better sound you probably have to shoot dual system. But then again - he said CHEAP

I just posted this to another thread, but I'm curious if anyone has tried Canon's MA-300 dual XLR adapter? It's "intended" for GL-2/XL-2 camcorders, but since it connects via the "Smart Accessory Shoe" just like Canon's DM-50 microphone which others are apparently using with the HV20, I don't see why it shouldn't work ...
