hey guys,

looking for any critique, this is my first short, i filmed, edited, wrote, bla bla everything.

the adapter is home made and static so sorry about the dirtiness.

its a very confusing story, but you all being filmmakers I'm betting you'll get it. if you need help, ask, but i don't wanna ruin it so ill leave you with this little synopsis.

A short film about a boy who is trying to find the meaning of the dirt beneath his missing shoes.

heres a high quality link to the film

Wow very nice short film. I enjoyed it because visually it wasn't perfect. Over exposed shots, the overall color of the film, definitely made it unique.

Powerful story.

Where the hell did you film this? Amazing location. Looks like a completely deserted island of some sort. Beautiful.

thought it worked well. kinda knew where it was going, but it played out well. shots seemed a bit soft, but could have been compression. nice look though, overall, especially for a first short.

wondering why he changed shirts/underwear midway through. continuity or intentional?

nice short... I am working on trying to do my first soon.. I am trying to make a 35mm Adapter.. Not as easy as some of you make it look.. you have any tips or anything for us that are not so handly doing this and cant afford anything right now but homeade?

Terry

thanks guys

hey tgiffilms, the whole visual thing wasn't on purpose, but i know what you mean, my adapter is a piece of crap so its tough to make it look clear and all.

the location is called Pleasure Beach. its an amazing place, it really is a whole town that was completely abandoned about 10 years ago because the accesses bridge was burnt down, and the shi*ty town of Bridgeport ct couldn't fix it. If you want to look it up, its mainly considered in Stratford CT, its very scary and interesting. theres a lot more to the place then you saw in the film also... theres a whole broken amusement park!!

Robbersquare, haha you're the first to notice the clothing swap! well what happened was somehow he lost his shirt so we had to find the closest thing to it... as for the underwear, that was by accident, i mean i wasn't out to make this thing perfect anyway.

And Terry, I bet you can afford an adapter, i only spent about $50 making mine. here is a really short video i made trying to explain how to make one

well, if it means anything, the film has actually stuck in my head since i saw it. actually, that's saying quite a bit.

i think i need to visit pleasure beach.

thanks man, really appreciate it.

I really can't wait to submit this to film festivals, I'm working on getting the rights (man this process sucks!)

I don't know... do you guys think this would do well in any sort of film festival? I've never submitted a film anywhere before.

thanks guys

WOW WOW WOW....

Startford CT? I'm right here in Westport, CT, HAHA! You live in Stratford? Hey man, shoot me a PM, let's meet up and film something.

I definitely need to check out pleasure beach now, I've heard about it before.

This is a great film....I love the sound track...the editing....and of course the location.
Very impressive mate. Even the voice over was very believable and convincing - great acting from your friend too.

As for the location: I'd love to find somewhere like that here in England! That whole town sounds amazing!! I'd love to make a documentary just about that!

I'm sure you could easily enter this in to festivals,...and I look forward to seeing your next film.....

By the way...if you could go back and film some of the Pleasure Beach I'd love to see it....I can't really afford the flight over to the States at the time being!

Nice one pal.

Rob :)

Thanks rob

im trying to submit my film, but im having the worst trouble with copyright laws on music, its impossible to get a license!!

and if you'd like to see some more on pleasure beach, this was some footage i took, actually it was initially for this film, and after filming it i realized my actor sucked and i really needed a tripod haha so we re-shoot it. but this video is just a bunch of random footage and some from what was gonna be absence
