Hey everyone! I have asked a bunch of questions and read a bunch of topics here for the past month- I think I am about to go order the EX3?

Does anyone object to the camera, anyone have only positive things to say?

Primarily want to shoot shorts with it-

Thanks!

A great camera in so many ways, but you need to be aware of the serious problem it has with IR, it could reak havok on your shoot if you don't fix it before shooting.

Did anyone come up with a definitive way to fix that after? lol

I have read that many posts on IR issues and potential fixes that I lost count along the way.

Great camera for the money. Contact Junior at E.C. Professional Video. He set me up pretty good!

As for the IR. I have been using the B&W 486 filter when needed.

you're going to love it. be advised, the hype about the xdcams not having the panasonic "mojo" are not exactly true. the thing is, most of the panasonics come out of the box with some nice preset scene files that are very filmic. sony , for some reason does not do this. straight out of the box, the image looks very "video" in my opinion. however, the matrix settings are way more in depth than the panasonic and an equally filmic look can be achieved with a little tweaking.

take some time with it. download other's picture profiles. set yourself up some nice profiles and the cam is magic.

also, white balance on these cams behaves a little funny to me. it seems that when you have dialed in a look, the preset temps as in 3200k and 5600k no longer work. luckily you can dial in your wb by hand in the picture profile menu and find the balance you need. this is something the pannys definitely lack.

Exactly, it reminds me of the paintbox you have on the f900-950, you can get, oh i hate to say it the "SAW colors, or perhaps a better description would be Del Toro's, "Pans Labyrinth.
Once you dial in a picture profile, the WB will not function as originally factory set. But get this you can dial in all the way up to 10,000k WB for example. Welcome to the family!
Cheers
