about to buy an SLR....

So I've sold my DVX to start renting HD cams for projects but am also looking to buy an SLR just so I'll have something around to shoot video with for small shoots. I don't like the warping and rolling shutter of the D90 and I can't afford the Canon 5d so I'm closing in on the GH1, just wanted to make sure it's the best SLR out there in my price range for someone who wants to shoot a lot of video with it but would also enjoy having a great still camera around. How long can the GH1 continuously record? and what is the maximum size SD card I can get that will work with the camera? Thanks for any advice/tips this will bring!

If you do decide to get a GH1, be prepared to get in line and wait a few months before you can possibly get one!

The manual (p27) says 32GB for max card size and running time is unrestricted apart from on the European model (30 mins I believe) for AVCHD - 2GB is the max file size for MJPEG footage.

Do download the manual and study it carefully before purchase. Well worth the time and effort with gear like this.

Oh, and check the reviews at...

Thanks so much for the tips guys! Where have you ordered yours from? Looks like B&H has it listed as 'back ordered' now, any other trustworthy sites I might want to keep checking?

what shop did you call to check on the camera? I'm in Los angeles, any tips?

Ted's in Melbourne Australia - and it's half an hour away from me... and it was the only one they had, sorry (well, unless more have since arrived). And the price was really steep!
