So I downloaded the free transcoder by mainconcept bundled for registered owners of an hmc-150, installed it and tried it, and it seems fast, easy, the down side... cant really do much with the P2 files mxf, Im using vegas por 9, unless i buy raylight wich im not entirely sure it could be better for me and not entirely pleased with its so cal cheap price... im not so sure about direct show runing easier on the system than the avchd codec...

The avi files the main concept transcoder creates are troubling me, I double checked on my recorded test footage...the camera is set on 1080p and the avi created by the transcoder appears to be 720p and square pixel...

Im runing out of answers... Cineform was ok at first but its a process taking precious time, this transcoder is working pretty fast either creating MXF or Avi, but i cant really use it on my prefered NLE...and im not so sure about the real resolution on the avi files it creates...

Id like to hear ideas on how to transcode the AVCHD mts files native to this camera for clean ful res work flow on vegas or premiere or avid...without having to upgrade the pc...

As far as I know the transocder only makes AVI files of SD downres's.

I don't use vegas but I am suprised you can not use P2.

You could try the AVID DNxHD codec, which is free from AVID. You will need something like tmpgenc to use the codec unless vegas can do this internally.

I have the HMC150 and Vegas Pro 9c. I have successfully transcoded to MXF and then encoded to AVC for bluray. Works fine for me. I use Production Assistant to automate the batch transcoding, but regular old Vegas and the free batchrender script will do this as well.

how do you even get the MXF files into the vegas time line?? ive got the latest 64bit sony vegas pro 9 on one pc and the 32bit version on another pc and both say "unrecognised format" when trying to bring them into the project!

please share!
