Hi guys,

i'm swiss and so i don't speak english very well. excuse me for my bad english.

i have some question about the squeeze mode: well i think, no i don't think, i know that this mode detoriates the quality of the video!
a friend support that dvx100 wiht squeeze mode lose 1/3 of quality... excessive!

now my question is: to create an anamorphic video is better use the squeeze mode or a post production effect?

thanks!

squeeze is better becasue it uses the whole 4:3 field to record a 16:9 image...so then your basically compressing down the image... squeeze is the way to go... letterbox is not, either is cropping a 4:3 comp.

i'm gonna have to disagree with that. there are tests somewhere on this site that showed that squeeze mode lost more resolution than scaling 4:3 in post. besides just having better res, your options are open to go 4:3, letterbox, or anamorphic.

Squeeze mode does NOT use the entire 4:3 CCD. What it does is take the image between the black bars in Letterbox mode and digitally stretches it to fill the frame when recording. You end up with about the same rez as cropping the 4:3 image in post and stretching it.

i did a side by side comparison, and although im with you as it makes sense, i did a test, and yes, squeeze mode came out much better.
