Went to Abel today with my freinds Khalid Mohtaseb, Tom Wong, and Jon Breghel, to update our Canon 5D's with the 24P firmware....
It was quite the experince. I got my Firmware updated right next to David Byrne of the "Talking Heads". AWESOME.
Sign in sheet to prove it.....
Essentially, the new firm ware is pretty cool. The jello is minimal, its not buggy, and as canon reps put it themselves... its not perfect.
There are no Audio level meters that display while recording, despite the new manual audio control. major bummer.... no Histogram that displays while recording.... Bummer....
Sadly we cant revert to Magic lantern to solve these problems as its incompatible with the new firmware architecture.
Essentially magic lantern will still be neccesary, and hopefully the shortcoming will be addressed by the good folks at magic lantern.
The 24p is pretty sweet though!!!!!
