Hey guys-

Been a member here since the early days, but post far too little work to share with everyone! Got a little four minute short as part of the ABC'S OF DEATH competition, and I decided to do a body jumping Alien film contained to one, crazy POV shot. We had no money to work with, but I'm pretty happy with the result. If you do indeed like what you see, please be sure to VOTE for my flick, and spread the word around! I'm super curious to see what fellow DVXusers would think of the flick!

it's not bad at all in general. The idea of the POV (and not showing what's realy happening) is at one side a good idea, but maybe on the other side, fooling the viewers..

But did you thing: "well, everyone will know it was a zombie", or it wasn't ?

thing = think.

Do you expect from the viewers that they know what it is, the person we don't see. (Is it a human injured, a zombie injured, another monster ?)

Or is it somewhat in the middle where some people think they know it, some realy know it and others don't know it ?

The question is more difficult then the answer I think....

dre83. Watch it again. It's an alien that jumps from one human to another through their mouths. In the bathroom scene you see it in the mirror coming out the mouth of the big guy.

BTW

I think it's a very well made film morbidodyssey. I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe a couple of more lines of humorous dialogue? I don't really know what could have made it better because it is really good. Maybe it's just lacking a little in terms of story... but that's hard to improve in four minutes..

The "pan or zoom" from red at the start is not what the organisers wanted I don't think... And the same for the ending. The orgainsers wanted the screen to be full of something physically red, not just panning from a red screen. I could be wrong.

Good luck.

I'm watching with more focus now...And I see a BIG out of sync in the dialogues.... It's maybe not visuable to everyone because of the camera moving...
But if you watch the guy saying "I'm kicking his poo pooing ass that's what's wrong" for example.....

Or am I wrong ?

dre83 I think you're over analysing. They may have dubbed the dialog and often it's not perfectly in synch. (Dubbing:" is the process of an actor re-recording lines spoken during filming in order to improve audio quality or reflect dialog changes.) In this type of low budget, indie film it's very common practice and certainly in this case is not detrimental to the film.

Thanks for the kind words Searcher!

And Dre83- Searcher is right regarding the ADR. To shoot something like this it is incredibly complicated and choreographed, so the amount of sound we could capture on set was minimal. We were forced to re-record and put in most of the dialogue in the post process, but thankfully because of the type of film this is, we were able to get away with it much more so then in a regular film.

Thanks for watching guys! I appreciate it!
