How do you know that video had no AA filter? The GH2 resolves a very high resolution with whatever filter they currently have installed, so I don't think it's worth the hassle and risk of distortion.

I have not removed mine but so far the videos I've seen with it removed has that same yellow-like finish to it. There are some other folks on Vimeo (somewhere....don't ask me to find the link) that removed the filter. From memory I believe sharpness increased ever so slightly and shadow detail was also increased.

What about moire/aliasing?

I wonder if removing the filter would make the surface of the sensor any less reflecting. Internal reflections from the sensor can be a problem, especially with vintage lenses and point light sources in the image.

here is other one ..

what i find out that there is no moire but u can get aliasing if u use panasonic lenses (20 f1.7 or 14-240)
what u get is better resolution in fine details an better color separation an there is much less banding ..
one more

u can see aliasing even moire in the shoots with 20 f1.7 and 14-240 (because distortion correction and add sharpness)...
but look at the sky and details in faces and wide shots ...

Why would the AA filter be causing more banding? I thought that was more a function of bitrate (which the hacks have addressed) and bit depth (8bit 4:2:0 vs 10bit 4:2:2 etc) which is hardware-limited.

If you're having problems with banding in skies and the like try shooting a higher ISO, the noise can break it up so that the codec doesn't skimp on sky detail. Also make sure you're working in 32bit float when you grade.

I've seen better results with the latest custom matrices that Driftwood has been working on, fwiw.

yes but this is done on custom 1.0 before hack....
hack can only recode resolution who is allready there it can not produce new ...
with aa removal u get aditional 30% resolution check aa filter Thom Hogan in google...
my main reason to this is photography but i would like to shoot usable HD video too ...
about banding possibly better color separation ...
aa filter blurs image and that gives too much shades an mixtures of color for 8 bit ..
gh2 is 16 MP 4/3 so in full frame it will be 64 MP ...
I if d800e has no olpf i dont see why gh2 should...
here u can se that gh2 has been beaten by 12MP olympus e-5 in resolution test...
