Not sure how accurate these claims are, but Sony's FF DSLR/T is due at Photokina next month:

Kind of sounds too good to be true. If it is, then it could be the next big thing for DSLR video shooters.

However, i just bought an $8000 FS700 and would actually be a little annoyed if these A99 specs are true after spending all that!

Yep, sounds a bit like a wish list. Maybe Sony are going after Canon's 5DIII market though, so would make some sense.

FS700 still has the 4K, 12 bit, RAW upgrade to come (and a video orientated sensor). The 4:2:2 internal would be a sting though.

lol at the comments by users complaining it's too "video-oriented" - forgetting it's still a rumour

But damn if it were true, I'd have to rethink my relationship with the FS100....

Some parts of this might materialize, but Sony stubbornly segments its cameras to protect its lines - this would pretty much overrun everything at the FS700 price and below. Its total pie-in-the-sky thinking and I like it, but we'll never see this. It would be the game-changer Sony desperately needs in the DSLR market to break the CaNikon duopoly and would completely crush the 5d3 and d800. Hopefully there will be some innovation in the A99 or whatever its called that will shake up the market.

That being said, if these specs are legit - the FS100's days are numbered. But I have no doubt the FS isn't going anywhere.

The FS100 is completely different. S35 sensor(not everyone needs/wants fullframe: more expensive heavier lenses, more challenging to focus in run&gun situations etc.), E-mount (A-mount is not adaptable to legacy glass...), xlr, videocamera functions and so on.

That said, those specs look interesting. We shall see...

Specs are specs, and doesn't mean everything. It was actually exiting on paper by the F700 but i was so disapointed after about everything i saw after this coming from this camera, i decided to pass and keep my BMC camera order for now waiting for a better option..

The A99 will still suffer from moire/aliasing as it is still a photographic camera with 16+MP on the sensor. It's true that the FS100 has moire in very extreme cases, but a 3.4MP sensor is still better for video.

Since when is 50Mbit and 4:2:2 in the AVCHD standard... Also I find those high fps highly unlikely. Sony has always protect their product lines fiercely, purposely underspeccing cheaper models as not the undermine their more expensive siblings. But maybe they will surprise everybody. Sounds like a nice B-cam for FS100/700 operators. A DSLR, even with these specs, still can't touch those because of XLR inputs, battery life, buttons, long record times, sensor optimized for video instead of photo, etc.

I'm getting skewered a bit, but I said these specs will never see the light of day. No way Sony drops a sub $2800 (rumored price) camera that would put a major dent in the FS sales. Look at what the Nex cameras - namely the 5n - has done to the VG20.

But if Sony can bring a FF camera that doesn't suffer from the issues CaNikon have with the line skipping, I'd buy one. I really want to go back to FF for stills, and I'm hoping to find one that will compliment the FS100 nicely. My current 5n is great, but UWA is tough on a crop sensor. Plus the AF is better on the Alpha camera compared to Nex and there are fast lenses in the Alpha line.
