A7SII battery life when recording 4K internal with IBIS on???

Hello everyone,

Just curious how long the Sony A7sII battery lasts when recording internal 4K with IBIS on?

Can anyone who is already shooting with the A7sII comment on battery time?

And does the Sony A7s battery grip fit with the A7sII?
I currently have an A7s with battery grip and I'm considering selling the A7s but keeping the grip if it does.

Also, regarding SDXC cards, what would be the most reliable brand?

Not sure whether to get SanDisk

or Sony:

Strangely enough the Sony SDXC card is less expensive than SanDisk. I always thought Sony charged more. I've been using SanDisk for years, but the Sony SDCX card is $78 vs SanDisk's $94 card.

Thanks very much in advance for any feedback.

I don't see anything like 1:20 recording 4K and IBIS. I've never just let it run but last night, i'd guess perhaps 20 mins worth of footage (both 4K internal and 4K HDMI out over lots of slates) plus general camera on time setting up shots for a single battery? I usually have around 4 batteries with me.

cheers
Paul

I'm guessing you use fly-by-wire glass and don't have a grip, but jcs uses vintage manual glass and has a two-battery grip.

(yes, when I said AF glass on the a7S made a huge difference, I meant it cut battery life by almost half)

I seem to get just under an hour if it's tripod work with IBIS on and lens IS off.
With a Canon 70-200 IS on an adapter with IBIS on and lens IS on, about 45 minutes.

I usually don't feel comfortable taking the A7sII out without at least 8 batteries. At least the aftermarket ones aren't too terrible and so far only one I bought gave me errors in the Sony charger.

You get 1:20 when your on ''airplane mode'', as well as not using any Autofocus whatsoever and 24/30p frame rates. Also important is that your not in cold temperature.

Is 1:20 mins 4K or 1080p???? I imagine you get more battery life if it's 1080p?? Also, you mean 24fp will train the battery life out more??

I haven't noticed a difference shooting 1080p. But I hardly shoot with it, except for overcranked stuff. 4k downsampled looks so so so much better, it really doesn't make sense to run in 1080p if it's at all avoidable.

The impact on the workflow, bro. I put in ONE min of 4K footage into my Premiere Pro timeline and it took like 7 mins to render.... I am using a macbook pro retina display but that's still quite a lot!

^ I can't put noise reduction on my 4K footage because then it takes approximately a full lifetime to render on my two-years-old reasonably-powerful PC. (IIRC, it multiplies render time by 20 or so, relative to the same 4K clip without noise reduction)

Samuel, I'm starting to notice very fast battery drain after switching to sony lenses too. I assume when I use the cam professionally for video and focus manually (even on the sony glass) I should be back to the battery life I was experiencing with canon lenses minus a small (hopefully small!) drop caused by the IBIS? What would you think?
