A7sii A7rii -7 detail with cine4 picture profile

I'm using a cine4 picture profile with -7 detail as recommended by a lot of people. How much does the -7 detail help when recording these videos? How much detail should be added? Does this affect anything as far as the clarity or crisp sharpness of the video? Thanks in advance!
 
Hmmmm anyone else have a take on the -7 detail? Is it for a smoother look or is it just because you can add it in later?
 
I always shoot with -7 detail, and don't add it back in post, unless I do a big crop.
It's already sharp enough (and I like sharpness and seeing textures, but I generally don't like images that look sharpened).
 
The theory is that the engineers like to over sharpen the image in camera and this sharpening has a digital look to it. I would try a couple clips with both 0 and -7 and see for yourself if it bothers you or not. You can always add it in post anyway and would be better than what the camera is producing plus have more control. YMMV.
