a7s with Metabones EF Adapter Mark IV Problem (Sigma Lenses)

This has been around the web for a while but i couldn't find a place to double check and gather all the info, so here we go.

As some of you know, using the a7s with the Metabones EF Adapter Mark IV could lead to some problems, namely record stop or camera crash.
Metabones released a new firmware update here, and things apparently improved with Canon lenses.

I still notice major problems with the sigma lenses, mainly the 24-105 f4. Record just stop after a minute.
Interestingly, this doesn't happen with the EF Speed booster and the same lens (!)
Just for double check, i'm having my adapter replace right now, but i found same stories online.

Please share your experience if you have any with this combo (a7s + Metabones EF Adapter Mark IV), could help to pin point the problem for future firmwares ;)

Picked up an A7s and Metabones EF Adapter Mark IV today - Will see what happens! Updated the firmware to start, no issues so far. Fingers crossed

Please update when you guys get more info. I'm interested in that Combo for the FS7 when my camera comes. Why did you guys pick the Sigma over the Canon BTW?

I got in touch with Alex @Metabones, we tried every single with no success, told me he'll let know the engineers.
Also, this combo works perfectly with the FS100...that's why it's strange.

I choose Sigma over Canon because i use it in par with the Sigma 18-35, they fit perfectly (color, contrast...)

Great that you have Alex on it . If anyone can get it fixed he will. Did you compare it to the Canon carefully or just go with it for the match?
I'm curious how either will match Rokinon primes and Canon 70-200 also.

i went for the match .
also, the canon 24-105 is a bit 'old' now and recently sigma has been on fire, reviews have been great, so i figured i d give it a try .
i have a shoot this weekend with the 70-200, i let you know how they match

Yeah i'm inclined toward the Sigma, hence concerned about metabones. I have a Sigma 50-150 and it is incredible but will be selling as I don't need it anymore. With 70-200 and speed booster Ultra I get both.

Having trouble with the metabones IV and the tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC
VC is perfect, but controlling the aperture doesn't work well at all! Arg.
E-mailed Metabones to see if they have any ideas.

EDIT:
In Video Mode -> VC is perfect, aperture control is not good at all
In MANUAL (stills) mode -> VC doesn't work at all, but aperture control is perfet.

Some kind of camera setting I'm missing maybe?

Not sure about the camera setting, this adapter and camera seems to have trouble for 3rd party lenses, might be the version of the E-mount.

the I.S. or VC only comes on when recording in manual stills mode - threw me at first but hey I guess it saves on battery (at least it does with my Commlite adaptor)

Will the Sigma 24- 105 work with the Mark II or Mark III?
Also is it correct that it works fine with the speed booster Ultra?

I just tried a new Metabones Mark 4 with the Sigma 50 1.4 Art lens on the Sony A7S, it stop recording all the time, anywhere from a few seconds, up to 3 minutes. Big disappointment. So should I return the Mark 4 and try a different Mark 4 or is that just how they all work?

I, too was hoping for any confirmation of whether the update has fixed these issues. My question is specifically about the Tamron 24-70 VC, but I'm also curious about other 3rd party lenses, e.g. the sigmas.

i've been using it with the sigma 24-105 and it works fine since the last update. i can't say for the Tamron though...
