A7S vs 5DmkIII side by side low light test - Den Lennie

What Sonicanon claims is one thing, what independent reviews and practice in the field delivers another :-)
If you get too excited about it and are on the verge of selling a kidney, than start reading/viewing all the PR stuff of long forgetten stuff (read: two years ago), which was of course the very best since sliced bread...
I don't exspect a wonder, really. This beast is optimzed for available darkness, so I would be very astonished by a superb performance in bright daylight.

It looks like somebody discovers the complete production street of the D3/D700 sensor and asked himself, if it could used once again before throwing it away. :-)
I wish N came to the same 12k^k conclusion, as they knew a little bit more of tweaking a sensor

That seems like sort of absurd assumption. Imagine if 2 years ago, when we were all wowing about the performance of the 5DmkIII at ISO 12500 that somebody said it wouldn't work well in daylight. Or any camera today that has low light sensitivity that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. The f5/f55/fs700 all have extraordinary lowlight performance, and similar base ISOs, but they do just fine. Even the old f3 has a base ISO of 1600 in slog, and it produces some of the best daylight pictures I've ever seen.
