Hi there,

I'm an A7s owner and we are going to be using an A7sii on a job because it can do 4k internally. Are there any big differences in operating the a7s and the a7sii? I am planning on just copying the pic profiles from my A7s.

The SDXC cards on the a7s should work in 4k on the a7s right?

Any other big differences?

Thank you!

Well yes they should work but if they are not U3 cards they will not work in 100Mbps mode, only in 60Mbps. If you want the best possible internal image quality you should make sure you use all U3 cards and shoot 100Mbps. Even 100Mbps can seem a bit blocky and smudgey when underexposed, especially viewed at 4K. I have had better luck playing back 60Mbps 4k on my laptop than 100Mbps. I can only playback 100Mbps with hardware accelerated decoding, which doesn't work in any NLEs, only a few standalone programs. Granted I'm coming from an A7RII so there may be some differences, but I'm sure the U3 requirement is the same.

Thank you! How many minutes of video do you get on 64gb card shooting 4k at 100 mbps? I looked through the manual and couldn't find it.

What is the native iso of the a7sii? And maximum ISO without noise for 4k?

"native" ISO will be the lowest ISO the camera lets you choose. That depends on your Picture Profile or Creative Style. And all ISOs will show some noise in certain lighting situations and exposure levels, as with any camera.

It should be around 70min, maybe a bit more.
