A7s shutter button dead in movie mode...is this correct???

Does the shutter button on the A7s not work at all in movie mode?

It works in photo modes (Auto, P,A,S,M) but in movie mode, the shutter button is essentially dead, no focus and no record ability.

So you have to press the tiny AF/MF button on the back to focus and the tiny movie button on the side to record. Is this correct?

Thank you PTRush.

It's crazy that the easiest to reach biggest button is completely disabled while we have to fumble around looking for two tiny buttons (one to record, one to focus). I mean if we can focus with the shutter button in photo mode, why on Earth couldn't we do so in movie mode like we can on the GH4?

Don't get me wrong, I do love the A7s for all it's great qualities.
But Sony's decision to kill the shutter button in movie mode really stinks. :(

I'm pretty sure it does work with re-focusing while in movie mode. I definitely does not have record capability though which stinks. Oh, and just for good measure, you can't adjust white balance while recording. :(

That shutter button is a bit spongy. Would worry me that the stop and starts would be finicky. No harm in making it an option though! I'd probably reassign elsewhere or just leave it as is. Pretty used to by now.
