Hello

Have to decide if I get Samyang Cine in Canon or Sony mounts?

Keeping in mind Sony lenses aren't adaptable to possible future cameras.

Is FOV, image or AF speed compromised with Metabones Samyang 50mm Cine 1.5 Canon VS a Sony mount of the same lens?

Please no Nikon debates.. I want the AF option.

You don't get autofocus with Manual Samyang Cine lenses though ...

Whole point of the lens is to manually focus it yourself, as it's easy at that, especially the 'cine' versions with a protruding focus ring that allows you to attach a follow focus.

kind of anwering your own question - get Canon and cheap dumb adaptor so can adapt for other cameras....FOV the same....they are manual lenses so no AF

Sorry guys, yes I know that. I forgot to mention im planning to get the Canon 1.2 85mm.. which has AF.. i want the AF option there..

FoV is the same because the sensor is just as big, and then glass is not pushed away from the sensor at all (the E mount version of the lens is just as long as the EF lens plus an EF-to-E adapter, and the glass sits in exactly the same place).

(pushing the glass bits farther away from the sensor won't change FoV much, it will focus a lot closer, turning the lens into a macro-only; pushing it closer to the sensor will make the lens unable to focus at any distance: it focuses "beyond infinity")

Hi Samuel.. Yes i know the E-mount and Canon have their glass the same distance from the sensor :) I meant with the EF-to-E adapter, which is almost 1.5cm thick, naturally the lens on the metabones is farther from the sensor than if i had the lens directly on it with an Emount of the same brand..

The e-mount lens will be longer than the EF by that exact amount. So the actual rear element of the lens will be the same distance from the sensor in both cases.

the glass bits stand at the same distance from the sensor in the E lens and in the "EF lens plus adapter" combo, that's the point of the adapter

For manual lenses, I would get a non-Emount version every time. Either Canon or Nikon. A)you can then use them on other camera systems. B)You have the option of using special adapters (Speed Booster, Vizilex ND) with them. C) They will be easier to sell. D) They are often cheaper than the E mount version for the same lens (not always).
