A7s requests for firmware update: wish list?

That's a function of the lens, not the camera body. Use a lens without a servo focusing design.
From all of Sony's "features" that electronic focus ring (or whatever it's called) in Sony lenses is the worse. I really don't know what they were thinking.
Edit: when thinking about it a little deeper with firmware update to the lenses and camera (so you could chose a mode in camera) it would be possible to make it more usable.

It's focus by wire which means the software can choose to do whatever it wants with the input from the focus ring.

I've tried to chat with a representative, not very encouraging: I've had to confirm him three times what product I was referring to.
I don't think SONY A7s is much difficult to understand though... I gave him the Sony product page link.
Then, when he finally got it, the connection dropped. Not sure if it was a connection problem or he simply quit.
Anyway, since I don't own an A7s yet, in case on the Sony community someone is gonna reply with arguments that I can't handle, I'll ask you help.
I'm also gonna try to reach some Sony representative on the phone.
I'll keep you posted if there's any development.

Pretty please, guys, push them for time limited internal 4K. IT IS POSSIBLE, and with our firm requests I believe it can happen! Everything is there, all they have to do is to enable it.The Irish TRex

No you didn't, but it's not a problem!
Adjust white balance WHILE recording!!!! How this is not possible is beyond me. You have to stop recording to change the white balance! This is awful for long form shooters. Also would love the same sharpness in expanded focus in video mode, as you get when you are in photo mode. But the white balance needs to be adjustable while recording for sure.
4:3 mode that keeps the Full height in FF mode and same crop factor for APS-C mode. Right now the camera has a 4:3 mode but it is only 30P and doesn't use the AVC-S codec, I don't know if it uses the full sensor height or not. Having this mode with the high quality codec and all frame rates would be awesome for anamorphic shooters.

Smooth continuous AF during recording like the dual pixel AF on my c100. It's almost doin it so it looks like an upgrade should be possible. Make the top shutter button be programable as the start record button in movie mode. Programable crop. And can please see the waveform when switching ISO or aperture because that's wheni really need it.

I will second that!!! Please guys, register there (if you're not already) and post your comment there. It will have a bigger impact!! Sorry for being an old loop tape, but PUSH FOR time limited internal 4K!!

1. Keep the histogram on screen during ISO and aperture changes.
2. Ability to map APS-C mode to the Fn menu
3. Custom white balance in slog
4. 4K internal recording
5. Ability to change the name of a picture profile from ppX to a custom name.

They really need to speed up the start-up times of PAL+NTSC switchable models. Takes like 8 seconds to turn on... NTSC only models are almost instant...
