A7s Power Solutions

How do you intend to power your A7s for a day in the field?

Multiple NP-FW50s, Battery Grip or 3rd party solution?

What 3rd party solutions do you know of that will are portable and will provide 6-8 hours (or more) of operation?

I like the look of the Switronix PB70 but as yet do not know if they do an A7s adapter are there any other 3rd party power devices that fit the bill?

Power is one of the main areas that may sway me towards taking my FS100 instead of buying the A7s, I can take 2 or 3 NP-F970s and they probably last me a week away from power so I need your help in pointing me in the direction of affordable, portable power for the A7s. While I won't need a week's worth of power I think 2 days is a must i.e. 2 x 6-8hrs which is one pack on camera and one in reserve.

How do you intend to power the camera for professional work?

Any advice gratefully received.

My plan: three NP-FW50 batteries (the original one, plus two $10 ones from ebay).
If they last anything close to what they do on my 5N (which overheats like crazy, so power consumption can't be particularly low), that should be enough. On the 5N one battery allows me to shoot about an hour of footage over a 12-hour shoot (power consumption is very different depending on whether you are rolling or just in stand-by, so how much footage you shoot in a day is probably the most important variable).

Does this mean that Recording on a Ninja will drastically increase battery life?

Eyeballing this cam, but coming from the fs100 (long lasting battery) and BMC (12v input), this battery life thing is a bit of a bummer to me...

I don't think so. The reason the battery lasts a lot more in my 5N while not recording is that the sensor is sampled very sparsely. When I hit record the image quality improves significantly. No idea how the quality is controlled when recording externally.

There's an AC Adapter out there - Sony AC-PW20 (and of course cheap alternatives in the *bay).

Never used one, but my guess would be to use one of these alternatives with seperate cords + adapter for battery type of your taste (e.g. the ones of your FS100, NP-F*). Don't know if there is a problem with chips (preventing from third-party adapters from working properly).

There are also cheap battery packs out there e.g. for RC cars/planes or bike lamps etc.

That's great, I don't mind getting the Sony one.

Does anyone know from what side the batteries load on the grip?
Extending battery life with the grip and then reloading them from the side (when on a rig/tripod/mixpre) might be good enough for me. Don't need to shoot longer then 2 hours at the time max.
