I know this type of thread has seen a lot of action these days but I still find myself struggling to find a satisfactory answer. I really enjoy the A7s design and features but can't get consistently good looking color and exposure with so many settings.
I'm basically looking for two types of the picture profiles. The closer I can get these to match their respective Canon cinema camera counterparts the better.
The first is a profile with good DR that isn't super flat - something I could hand off to someone else and feel happy with the general look of the footage, but isn't so contrasty that things are constantly blowing out. I have a C100 and have been able to do this pretty consistently with the Wide DR profile and a bit of added saturation.
The second is an Slog2 based profile. I still can't figure out if this should use the Slog2 color (which looks super weird to me no matter what I do to it) or if not which color space is better. The end goal is for a profile that allows the max dynamic range of the sensor but isn't in a totally different color space, if that's even possible. In this type of scenario, what's the best way to expose? My Slog2 shots always look bad after a LUT or grade... subjects are muddy with a lot of macro blocking and highlights look grossly peaked.
I know people are getting good results because I see them out there! But I can't seem to figure out the trick. My main point of reference is the C100/300 which I've used extensively and never had issues grading or getting a good look out of the camera - log or otherwise.
