A7s & Metabones -> Crooked?

Hey

Curious if this is a problem specific to my adapter, or if all adapters are like this.

The tripod mount on the adapter isn't centered, so when I level the tripod, the camera is actually not level at all.

I can always level the tripod based on the camera's internal level, but I'm using the A7s as a B-Cam to my C100, so it will be on a slider a lot of the time. In order to level it to the camera's level, the slider slides on its own because the tripod is uneven... which is a bit silly.

I suppose if this is 'normal' the solution is a cage for the A7s or a battery grip? Currently I can't attach a QR plate direct to the A7s because the adapter comes down lower than the A7s base.

Thoughts?

Thanks!!

A little off topic but those things are junk. Over the span of a year I bricked 3 of them(each had to be shipped back to factory) without any rhyme or reason. I gave up when one of them literally froze itself on the camera mount and wouldn't release the lens that was mounted, assumed it was from the cold(-13f+ on top of a mountain).

After that I decided enough was enough and refuse to use adapters on A cams ever again.

The adapter comes down lower than the camera? Cant' you take off the "foot"?

Going to take LeoGray's advice on this one.

I did try taking the QR plate off the adapter. A lens like the Tamron 24-70 ends up lower then the camera's mount, so I wouldn't be able to properly use it. I could maybe put the plate on the very end and have the entire lens sticking off the head or something....

I used my Tamron 24-70 today during an interview (C100 as main cam, A7s as B-cam on a slider). I adjusted the aperture on the A7s in between questions (which the adapter is not good at with the Tamron lens), and the camera actually stopped recording because of it. (I was no where near 29 mins)

Likely going to return it tomorrow and buy a few Rokinon e-mount lenses now
The adapter acted funny with every lens I used on it today ( Tokina 11-16, Tamron 24-70, 50mm 1.8 ). I can't imagine what would have happened if I had adjusted something during vows at a wedding or something and the camera stopped recording because of the adapter. 100% unacceptable (and for $500...?!?!?!?!?!?)... Ah well! Live and learn!

It's primarily designed to work with Canon EF lenses so thats probably why you are having more issues. Still I feel your pain. Even with Canon glass it freezes up. I havent had iris issues like what you've experienced.

I still haven't had a single issue with the cheap-o commlite adapter I bought - I think $89.
