A7s Is Sony 16-35 F4 a Good Fit for ThIs or Is There Something Better?

I need a lens for monopod and some handheld use for covering mostly interior events such as gallery openings for use on the A7s. Stabilization and optical quality and playing well with the A7s are my priorities. I was looking at the Sony 16-35 F4. Reviews imply its optically very good even at F4 and would cover the range of 16-52 between full and APS-C crop modes (which I think pretty much covers what I need). The lens doesn't seem too big or very heavy and it's within my budget. My concern is the focus by wire. Can the A7s auto-focus well with this lens so that I can work in some kind of one- push auto-focus mode and use peaking to confirm it actually focused on the right spot? Anyone have experience working this way with this lens? I'm used to manual focus and just don't know how well this auto focus method would work. I don't need to worry about focus pulls. Are there other pitfalls of this lens I need to be aware of?

I have other CAnon and Nikon lenses with appropriate adapters that cover longer focal lengths, but I'd only use them from a tripod where in lens stabilization isn't needed. I've looked at other lenses such as Canon 24-105 and Canon 24-70 and their Sigma counterparts but optically they don't seem near as good (distortion, sharpness especially in corners). The Canon 24-105 seems quite popular on S35 sensor cameras, but on full frame it's optics might not do well enough? Are there other stabilized lens I should be considering?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Bob
