A7s Info video

Yeah that's right, "uncompressed" is a term people use, it isn't raw.
Think of it being uncompressed in the same way a BMP or WAV file is "uncompressed"

it's uncompressed in the sense that it's not encoded with a lossy codec (the BMP and WAV are good examples indeed)
it's definitely not RAW (that means not-debayered) and has chroma subsampling (supposedly 422)

Not to stray off topic on a young thread yet....but anyone know when the Canon Metabones adapter for the A7s will be released? You guys hear if they are timing it with the July 8th release of the A7s? Thanks

I just want to see more samples with this camera. Its been quiet in regards to test users posting samples. I know Den Lennie is working on a GH4/A7s comparison but has been delayed on posting it. This is the thing I want to see. Enough with the tech specs lets see some samples.

I know, I just want to see some more footage. Hope they get the camera in the hands of someone who will really put it to the test soon.

He said that the camera detect crop lens automatic and goes into crop mode, does this mean that this camera can kill two birds with one stone? if I want full frame look I can use full frame, if I need the reach of a crop camera I can use crop lens? Sounds great if that is how it works.

I'm confused, isn't there already a canon metabones adapter for the A7 lines of cameras? I thought the latest NEX adapter covers full frame. Have I missed an announcement or something?

You are very right. I realized just today that IV has been released. Been kicking around picking up one and an A7s once its out. Would really like to see a 1080P internal video though...considering the Shogun will not be out for another few months.

Thats right. Thanks. I forgot that one was native 1080P. I have watched the other 4K video a bunch. The 1080P video is okay. It is a bit soft. Not nearly as sharp as my C100 or Scarlet, at least on my MacBook Retina. I would definitely only be using the 4K output if thats as sharp as it gets in 1080P internal if its gonna work as a B cam. The 4K video looks pretty great though...and the ultra low light is a plus. Lots of hype around the DR, hopefully tests will come out soon that have some more specifics. If it had more DR than the C100, I wouldn't complain.

supposedly it works even better: if you use a FF lens, you can choose to use it as FF or go to APS-C crop
what we don't know yet is how image quality changes when you go to crop mode (it's no longer a 1:1 pixel readout to final image conversion, see how that went on the GH4 in 1080p mode...)

I believe on a previous advertisement it listed FF and S35 modes operating at 30fps and below are not susceptible to binning / line skipping. I think someone posted it on here a while back?

Funny that the creators original vimeo post was uploaded in 720p, but Sony's upload is in 1080. Would be wierd if the youtube version was just a scaled up 720p. I thought in terms of detail the a7s's 1080p mode was definitely on par with the EOS cinema line.

Yes, they said that. But you have to downsample to get 1080p out of a no-line-skipping-and-no-binning sensor readout. And (this is weird) you have to upsample to get 4K. Those processes could lead to nicely sharp or horribly soft images, depending on which algorithms they implement. I have not idea which way this will go, I'm just saying soft APS-C is an option.
