A7S II, Noobie Here

Someone point me in the right direction on being able to capture good video quality with this camera. I'm new to cameras in general and just started doing weddings. How do I get the correct exposures? I am assuming that I shouldn't trust the screen and only use the wave form monitor? What picture profile do you guys recommend? I was thinking about using slog3 and putting some luts on it but I don't even know how to install any luts. I need beginners help for good video quality basically.

Dont use Slog3. Try CINE gamma's with Still or REC709 Color Mode and see if this works for you. Getting a good white balance is important. The A7s II color is improved over the A7s. Actually try shooting with no profile first so you see what the camera looks like.

Use the zebras and set them at 70% Try to get skin tone in that zone then turn the zebras off. They are very annoying to shoot with. I would set them to a custom button for faster access.

Hey, thanks for the tips. I will try it out later.

Don't use slog3, use slog2 and find some nice luts, especially Sony's 709typeA and impulz film luts and the ones built into premiere if you use premiere (helps to use an sgamut 709 gamut input LUT though). Slog3 is really too low contrast for 8bit recording and doesn't really gain you anything over slog2.

Also keep in mind that no picture profile (pp-off) reverts to the creative style system which limits shadow DR quite a bit but has its uses.

Thanks! I actually do use premiere CC. I also have a Canon C100. Hopefully, I can find the right setting to match the cameras. When you said said the luts in premiere, are the luts made specifically for slog2?
