A7S ii HDMI output 60p only?

I'm considering buying a Video Devices or Atomos 4k recorder, but I'm hearing mixed reports about HDMI output from the A7s ii.

Some say that no matter what the frame rate setting is on the camera, if shooting in 4k it will only output 60p via HDMI, not 23.98 or 29.97 etc (apparently outputting 1080 via HDMI does not have this problem).

Other reports that say this is only the case if the camera is not in movie mode-- and if in movie mode it can output any of the camera's designated frame rates up to 60p.

The latter scenario seems annoying, but the former seems like a total dealbreaker.

Can anyone clarify?

ok, maybe I misunderstood what I've been reading. but I'm fairly sure what I've read says that the a7sii has problems outputting 23.976 and 29.976 frame rates in 4K via hdmi and ends up somehow sending 60fps. some of these posts say that this is only a problem when not in movie mode.

again maybe I'm misreading, but can folks confirm if they're successfully using an atomos or pix recorder to capture 4K as7ii footage at 23.976?
