a7S II Exposure Metering Issue

Hello,

I recently purchased the a7S II and am still learning the settings. Whenever I hit the record button, my built-in camera metering overexposes by an entire stop. When I stop recording, it goes back to the original exposure I had before hitting record. Is there some setting within the camera that is causing this?

Additionally, when I adjust the aperture the LCD and viewfinder do not seem to accurately reflect my new depth of field immediately. When I hit the record button, it instantly adjusts, and when I stop recording it returns back to a preview of what looks to be a very shallow depth of field even when I'm trying to shoot say f/8 or f/9.

Any suggestions? I am using Canon glass via a Metabones MKIV adapter.

It seems you're not using manual settings control for movie mode. It's buried somewhere in the menus, and the default is auto-expose-for-movie-mode.

It was a long time ago, and my ownership only lasted a month -- but I seem to recall a button on the side of the Metabones that provided live preview of Depth of Field. But like I said, that is just my recollection.

Edit: Also, I think the setting that Samuel H might be referring to can be found on the Camera Tab, Settings Page 7, Last Option: Movie/HFR. Set it to Manual and see if that helps.
