A7s - for broadcast ?

I know, I realise I'm not discussing the new and exciting a7rii :(

I have a job coming up for broadcast (a music video) and I just want to make sure that the codec and 50mbps data rate from my a7s is good enough for television? (It should be, right?)

I'd like to hear anyone's experience with this. Apologies if there have been threads regarding this before. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide :)

Depends on who you ask honestly, but imho yes it is. 5D2 footage (which some people still say isn't broadcast quality) made really good looking stuff for House, and it's codec isn't as robust as the a7s. Pop on a 4k recorder of your choice and you'll easily have footage that nobody would question.

It'll be fine, most broadcast content isn't even 1080p. Just get the specs from the broadcaster. In my market (Tampa) the local stations ask for 1080i or 720p. Brighthouse and Verizon are similar. I've sent stuff from the 5d2/3, GH4 and A7s with no issues.

Since you are in London, you might want to check a bit more. The BBC has pretty high standards for their broadcasts.
50mbps and maybe 422 (A7S only records 420 internally). For a music video I'm pretty sure it will be fine though as long as you can deliver in the correct format (now THAT is a jungle!)
