A7s Audio quality

Im about to get one myself, as anyone tested the audio quality from the mic input (or the x1m xlr adapter?). Is it necessary to have a juiced linked/h6n preamp or is it possible to plug the mic direct in the input. Thanks.

Curious to see if its better then the usual dslr audio quality.
 
So, this makes it three positive comments about the in-camera audio of the a7s that I have read over the last couple of days. Unexpected, but nice bonus.
 
ok I've been tesing the audio of the Sony a7s and I think it's pretty good for what it is.....
I connected Rode ntg3 into Sound Devices MIx pre-d and into Sony A7s via unbalanced mic out cable supplied by Sound devices.
For reference at the same time I also recorded from the mix pre using Sony PCM-M10 audio recorder at line level - recording level 4 on the pcmm10, dial always at 12 oclock on the mix pre-d
Then I recorded Rode lav mic directly into the Sony A7s
This is not a scientific test - I am at work in a fairly large graphics studio, no sound proofing - my voice is very monotone I'm afraid but hey what can you do.....I tried audio levels 1 to 5 on the Sony A7s - and I think level 1 (lowest setting) gives the quietest noise floor on the a7s (which was the same as the Panasonic gh3 I've used before) I guess agc rears its ugly head after that just like the gh3 but don't know for sure
