A7s and 4K via?

The rumoured Sony A7s (full frame compact camera with 4K recording) might be shown on Sunday at NAB. They claim 4k clean out but i wonder how 4K can be delivered from a compact camera. Is there any form of mini HDMI that can hold a 4K signal? And the lead on question is whether the O7Q can record it...

So if you're around at NAB have a check to see how it might all work together.

Sounds awesome though, only 12MP full frame sensor, should be super senstitive. I guess my Nex 5n broke at the right time...ish...

cheers

I do not think the O7Q can record 4K from HDMI, you need to convert it to 3GSDI.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I thought the GH4 needed the extra output breakout box to do 4K out? I may be wrong.

If the GH4 has 4K out via HDMI what kind of spec would that be? And i wonder if a HDMI to SDI is available?

cheers

as far as I understood it has an 4K output over HDMI in 4K 8Bit 4:2:0 or HD 10bit 4:2:2
but for uncompressed 10bit recording in 4K you will need the new SDI "magic box"

GH4: it sends out 4K 10-bit 422 over hdmi, the 90's-phone-addon brings in that HDMI signal and outputs the same information through SDI (I don't remember where I read this but that's how it is: the breakout box is actually attached to the HDMI port in the GH4)

So yes, mini-HDMI can do that, at least at 24p.

There was a video of a Panasonic spokesperson explaining it this way.

The Panasonic YAGH is one of the only or few HDMI-SDI 4k converters which is why the price is more than an XLR adapter with pre-amps.

Or at least that is my understanding.
