A7S - A6000 Ergonmics (monopod)

New to the forum! I picked up an A7s and A6000 last week and I'm testing them out to see if they can replace my Canon 6D and 70D. I do mainly wedding videos and documentary style work.

Am I the only one who is finding the smaller size of these cameras difficult to get used to? Don't get me wrong, I love the size, it's just such a drastic change from Canon.

I shoot mostly on video monopods and it seems that my manfrotto heads just swallow these cameras. With some lenses it's difficult to manual focus as the lens is so low that I can't get my hand around the lens.

I'm going to purchase the battery grip for the A7s and I bet that solves my issue but I still can't find a solution for the A6000.

For you A6000 video shooters out there what is your main support system?

A6000 happy owner here too.
First half an hour with the camera felt strange (coming from 7D), then I was like "Yes! Finally!". The lightweight, among a lot of other things (EVF, Focus Peaking, Zebra, better audio, to mention a few) has been a terrific change, a fresh breath in years.

Going back to your question, now that I'm carrying less weight mounting the A6000 on my shoulder rig feels way better than mounting the 7D. I shoot mostly tripod, slider, shoulder rig, in all those cases A6000 weight works just better than heavier cameras. Should make my life easier with a Gimbal too.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping it would just be a matter of time before we get used to them.

I've just noticed the *monopod* in the thread subject, that reminds me that I haven't tried on my monopod yet, something I'm really gonna do for sure!
I'm expecting better ergonomic than the bulky Canon :)

as long as you use warp stabiliser you can get away with a standard photo monopod up to 70mm

I picked up the Meike battery grip and now I absolutely love the feel of this camera in my hand. It still maintains the thin nature of the camera but adds some much needed height to the grip. I wish there was a grip available for the A6000.

If anyone is having trouble getting used to the small size of the A7s I highly recommend picking up a battery grip.
