A7s & 7Q+ Rig Suggestions?

I ended up going with a SmallRig. There are a couple of reasons why I chose this setup over a Tilta or Movcam. Primarily, using a 70-200mm zoom lens on the front can cause flex in the narrow mount of the cage for the A7s. Secondly, I wanted the flexbility if I move away from the the A7s, I'm not stuck with a custom setup, but rather system that can used with any camera, even my Fs100 if I want to. Here is the parts build for anyone interested. The dual rail support is crucial to the whole thing being top heavy and flexing the single rail mount like the Tilta has. With a monitor like the 7q+ sitting on top, this is a huge concern. With my setup, the monitor is secured by the rails, not the top of the cage.

SmallRig is a buffet of great parts.

I use them for all kinds of stuff - even building things the parts weren't even designed for.

"Tinker Toys" for grown-ups.

Got an email from Smallrig saying they've made a change to the A7s rig, and wanted to confirm it was okay before shipping. Looks like the cage now secures tightly to the top of the A7s hot shoe. This is bad news for those with the Sony XLR adapter add-on, but good news for me and 7Q+ owners who want to secure a top heavy monitor to the rig. It also should help with front heavy lens's wanting to flex the body downward. Catch3CB8.jpg
