A7s 4K

So I ran across some ramblings that the A7s would do internal 4K for six minutes and then over heat.
would three minute 4k internal recording be useful to folks
Im wondering why sony would not use it at all

Well yes. I'm sure everyone would agree. I would love someone to take a look at the code and see if it were possible to unlock this feature similar to the F5!!

If it records one minute of 4K internally, I'll take it. Scrap that: 15 seconds, I'll take it.
Not for every shot, not for every project, but definitely for things like green screen and VFX-heavy shots.

As usual, my needs, my taste. I don't need to export 4K, I know my eyes can't see it. but sometimes I just need more resolution. I shot this in 1080p 420 on a very crappy blue screen (actually, a building that happens to be painted blue), then had to blow up some shots to 200% size, which means the color resolution is 480x270. I bet you can guess the shots.
Not complaining, BTW, I'm still very happy with the result, only *we* see these issues, the guys I shot this with are super happy with the video and didn't notice these issues.

At least give us an Atomos Ninja Star type recorder that does 4K! I don't want to throw a 7" screen atop a tiny camera just to record 4K.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Ninja 3 with either 4K recording or 4K-to-1080p444. But given the heat issues the Shogun is having in its beta version, I'm not very optimistic lately about 4K recording in a much smaller device in the short term.

Add me to the list of those that would welcome 4k internal with time limits. I would say 90% of my recording is less than a minute per take.

I would also like to see the Shogun's 4k capabilities trickle down to the Ninja and Ninja Star. The only thing keeping me from ordering the shogun is the size. The Ninja is the perfect size for small cameras, hopefully the Ninja4k is right around the corner.
