A7RII Video Autofocus Reviews Anyone?

I have seen so much talk about the A7RII and the autofocus improvements in photo mode with the metabones adapter. Does the autofocus work really well for video mode as well when using the Metabones adapter? Also, how well does the video autofocus work with Native Sony E-Mount lenses? Anyone have any experience with this? Or are there any videos on the topic online?

video autofocus with native sony e mount lenses is spectacular.

grabbed a 55m 1.8 native lens at samys yesterday, popped it on the a7rii, and set it to eye/face detection mode, and moved the camera towards and away from the store clerk.

spectacular.


with a canon lense and adapter - abysmal
 
Curious about this too. I've got E-Mount lenses, but the FS700 just isn't quite fast enough to keep someone in focus moving toward or away from the camera. I'd love to see if the A7RII can handle that at 2.8 or faster.

I am moving towards 100% Native E-Mount lenses anyways. No more adapters for me.

They really have improved the way Native E-Mount lenses manually focus. Plus if you need one push auto-focus the A7 series of cameras including the A6000 has it (while recording!)
 
Be aware. IMO auto focus is the ONLY way to use native sony e-mount lenses when shooting video because the fly-by-wire focus system is terrible. Never had so much out of focus...
 
I like to use native E Mount lenses and set the camera to manual focus then use the back AF/MF button to get a quick auto focus. It works great and is pretty dang accurate. After that use peaking to check. It works for me. Give it try.

Yes the one-time push AF is awesome. A great way to pre-focus!
 
+1. When you don't have as much time as you'd like, it's a life saver. My vintage glass delivers a better image than my AF glass, but the AF glass gets used a lot because of the back-button pre-focus function.

I do the same thing, works great.
