6300 Owners ... I just saw that there's an update to the FW... thought I'd check to see if the update does what it's supposed to do and/or if there are any new "gotcha's" involved in updating.

Haven't had any issues pre-update with overheating, but post-update, I noticed the clipping point for S-Log2 and 3 has changed. Previously, they were both at Lower Limit 107+. Now they're at 102+ for S-Log2 and 108+ for S-Log3. Was driving me nuts why Zebras wasn't working for me in S-Log2 with the previous setting.

That's interesting. This is a pet peeve of mine with Sony... and why I tend to hesitate doing a FW update. Overheating hasn't been a huge issue for me (most often am using an external recorder if shooting video)... and I'm more or less content with the 6300. So to read that they may have tweaked log curves.... ugh. You sure you didn't have some type of manual knee applied in the settings that went back to default upon updating firmware?

Actually, you're right. Removing the knee settings brings S-Log2 back to normal (107+), but S-Log3 now drops to 95+. Interestingly enough, that makes the Gamma Assist for S-Log3 look correct when you're ETTRing. Before, it was waaay bright, making the preview almost useless by blowing out a lot of things. Now, it falls in line with how S-Log2 looks with Gamma Assist. For better or for worse, it makes the camera easier to use if you use Gamma Assist. Who knows if this remapping will help a bit with banding in gradients, too...
