A6300 detail preferences for 4k

Hi Guys,

What are your prefered detail settings on the a6300 for 4k? I'm finding that even at 0 there seems to be some sharpening going on. The slog picture profiles have detail set to -7 just wondering if you guys think that may be too soft?

Any sharpening added in the camera can be added in post with much more control. The camera isn't going to soften your image, so go ahead and turn the sharpening all the way down and then add it back in post if desired.

That's what I do too. And shooting 4k I don't feel a need to add sharpness in post either, most of the time.

I was reading your recent skin tones post yesterday Samuel and your video looks very natural in regards to detail. Was that also set to detail -7.

I think the menu choices are a bit misleading I wrongly assumed that 0 detail meant all detail/sharpening was off.

Yes, that's RX100 IV 4k slog2 (Flaat) at 24 fps with detail -7 and no sharpening in post (or any other post effect or filter except a simple RGB curve).
