A1 Steak Sauce Spec Commercial

This is a spec commercial I did as as a student project at the Art Institute of California.

I'm a DP, but since this was my project, I DPed, Casted, Directed, Produced, Production Designed, and Camera Operated for this. But without my amazing Assistant Director, Assistant Camera, and Gaffer, I would not have been able to make it happen.

Composition is textbook. and shots are well exicuted IE focus pulling and frame

There appears to be a gradient on the left hand side of the screen... is it there? did you do it in post? It was a little distracting but that could have been vimeo.

Lighting is a little too textbook for my taste... your hero looks lit for a coorprate interview rather than a dramatic presentation.... It's the backlight to be honest... just a bit too perfect... I know it's a coorperate client but I would have lost the backlight.

Well done and good story for a short commercial.

What you see on the left is the vignetting from the letus. I didn't notice it during the shoot, or I would have zoomed a little farther through.

I do agree with you on the textbookness of my frames/lighting. I'm a right brain dominant DP, so I definitely need to work on my creativity/originality.
