A way to shoot RAW?

Am I correct that the GH1 has a nearly 4k sensor?

I remember there was a site that would mod your dvx to shoot raws straight from the sensor. The site is gone now though.

Do you think this is possible with the GH1? Voids the warranty of course, but is it possible?
 
I think you're referring to the Reel-Stream Amdromeda mod to the Pansonic DVX100 in which a daughter board was fitted inside the camera to pipe out the RAW signal which was recorded to a portable HDD as sequence frames. It would certainly be interesting to know if such a mod could realistically be made to a DSLR...
 
With the life cycle on these products? A much better camera would be out by the time the design goes through. The GH1 isn't a classic like the DVX, there's no reason to do it.

Just because you think it could be 4K doesn't make it so. The way I see it is just to take the GH1 for what it can do and don't give in to the number scheme that has been going around for years. The RED even fools people. After having the GH1 for a while now I still am amazed by its capabilities for it's price point. I would never classify it as a 4k but I would classify it as a kick arss camera for the cha-ching.
