A way to determine frame rate?

If you'll excuse me, I thought I saw this dealt with on this or some other forum in the past but I am not finding it again.

I am in the middle of an edit that I shot in its entirety at 24; or so I thought. I was sitting here with my producers reviewing the doc when I and one of the prods noticed that one of the interview subjects looked oddly "video-ish" as opposed to filmlike. To my knowledge the DVX was always set to capture 24p but anything is possible. Is there some way too determine what frame rate a particular chunk of footage was shot at?

thanks

If you have the source tapes you can play them back in-camera and the camera will display the frame rate (toggle the "counter button" until it shows the frame rate display).

Other than that, you can step through the footage frame by frame and see which ones are progressive and which are interlaced, and if it's progressive at all... but that's the hard way.

Many NLE's well, vegas at least, will also tell you what the frame rate is of each clip, So if it is already captured, you may check that. However, if you have mixed 24p and 60i footage, I have seen vegas mistake a 60i clip for 24p, becsue it did not know that it changed from one to the other, so Barry's way, would be the more full proof.
