A victimless crime

I'm not passing judgment. Just saying that IF a teacher has sex with a 14 year old student they should be punished. No?
If the teacher used deceit, violence, threat, abuse of authority or by any other means of intimidation or coercion the answer is yes. If there is consensus answer is no, IMHO.
In most of the Europe age of consent for sex is 14. (Spain 13)

Let me ask you a question: Is it not hypocrisy to encourage teenagers to be as sexy as possible (magazines, sports, fashion, movies) but depriving them from the actual act of sex? Is it not idiotic to claim some rights over their body & mind where nature perfectly informs their sexuality when the time is right?
Isnt sex related crimes lower in the countries where the age of consent is lower?
Isnt sex slavery & prostitution one of the most profitable businesses in USA?

I was looking at the Zimbio link and saw one of the 'sex offender' criminals: A 23 yo female teacher put into jail for having sex with a 17 yo boy.

Do I feel more secure because she is in prison? No.

Is it perfectly normal for a 23 yo female to be sexually attracted to a 17 yo boy? Yes.

Does it make sense that a 17 yo boy suddenly becomes eligible for sex at the turn of a clock on his bday? Perhaps you should answer that...

You bring up very good points. Like anything the reality is never that clean cut and simple. I gave this the headline 'A victimless crime' because I know, when I was 14 I wouldn't have objected to this happening. However, when a law is a law I don't think it's ever good to have any kind of double standard, and this woman and most sex offenders knew what they were doing was against the law so they should pay the consequences.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying here so don't fret. Especially how young girls are portrayed as sex objects in magazines and such.

One thing I will never agree with is an adult having sex with a child. And yes, over here we consider a 14 year old to be a child.

So we can agree to disagree on that one. There's nothing consensual there. The child is too young to know better and the adult is taking advantage of that.

Men/boys and women/girls are equals, but not interchangeable. An adult woman/subadult male relationship is intrinsically different than an adult male/subadult woman relationship; male and female sexual natures just aren't identical. I know this isn't a matter of law but it is one of biology.

I guess this is not politically correct but alas it's also true.

I actually agree with this to a point as well.

But I will never agree that any adult should be having a sexual relationship with any child. Regardless of gender.
Boys can be just as impressionable as girls.

Don't forget, an adult female teacher once used students through the guise of a sexual relationship to kill her husband for her.
The kid who pulled the trigger thought he was in love.

Adults know what they are doing and have to obey the law. Otherwise drop the age restrictions and ring the dinner bell for every pedophile on the street.

As I said, I'm not making any statements regarding the law and its prescribed consequences. The statute remains the same regardless of the genders of the people involved, which is fine with me.

True...I just think right or wrong people make the assumption that a teenaged boy CHOOSES to have the sex, because he can't get a boner against his will, where the teenaged girl is somehow pressured into it.
Do you have children? That's not a true statement... we won't get into the biology here, but that's NOT true.

Girl, boy...doesn't matter... it's just NOT cool and this 'teacher' needs to do time.

Read the rest of my posts and you'll see I agree with you...I was just explaining why in general people view one as being worse than the other.

Did anybody see that South Park?

"nice"

Also... Batutta... you said a 14 year old boy can't get boner against his will? Trust me... I wasn't aroused by geometry when I'd be at the board in class. Honestly when I went to the school counselor about career options she suggested I become a coat rack.

Even when I was a small kid I was very attracted to women... especially older women. My perception of that stuff NOW is like my perception of Disney World NOW... yeah yeah... I see through it all... it's a beautiful place designed to entertain you enough to keep the money flowing out of your wallet... but when I was a KID... it was a truly magical place... and anyway... enough about that, let me tell you about Disney World...

There's a joke in there somewhere... use the map... it's between "it's a small world" and "splash mountain"... by the hotdog stand... if you get to "pooh's playful spot" you went too far.
