What kind of cables do I need to connect a studio mic and a shotgun to a DVX? Then I would need a shotgun mount if I want to mount the shotgun on the camera, right?
 
The camera end of the mic input is XLR. The mic end should be whatever your mic needs....and it's probably XLR, too.

The camera comes with a mic mount (or it should have).

But I like the mic shock mounts that fit the shoe on top. :)
 
Although having the mic on a boom is generally preferable, if your shooting conditions permit. Gets your mic away from the minor whir-and-clunk of tape transport and servos, closer to your talent for added level and clarity, and helps muffle out the camera operator's mumbled prayers and curses...
