A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Here are the grabs from my most recent shoot. Before my camera broke. My camera shoots only in an extremely tinted blue now, but here is what I shot before it failed:

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

I like the grabs with the Green Desk Lamp. Glows nicely.

Curious about your camera. It broke? Tinted blue? Your not stuck on a PRST are you?

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Nice grabs, I'm with John the lamps glow is sweet...is there a link to the full film you could post?...looks interesting..i'm intrigued :D

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Oh no. That is bad. Unless your doing a BLUE MATRIX film :-/

Last ditch effort...

By any chance didnt adjust a save a scene file and now its become your default? Have you tried 'restting' the scene files?

Im going out on a limb, I know. I hate to see you have to 'send it in' for repairs. Damn Pani repair centers are not convenient.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

I've never saved a scene file in my life, and the damn camera refuses to stay on for more than 5 minutes, so it resets my AWB constantly as well. But I'll try a scene file reset, although all my manual scene file alterations have to been add reds and remove blues. Scratch that, the problem exists across all my file settings. The nearest Pani repair center is in Mountain View, so I'm going to hitch a ride down there tomorrow. I can't imagine how this could be a problem with an isolated part. Maybe they'll give me a DVX100A! (Yeah right)

And to Kyle: I haven't even begun to edit yet! But as soon as I'm finished I'll stick the thing on TriggerStreet and your curiosity can be remedied. I'll make sure to post updates every now and then so you don't forget about me.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Camera goes off when trying to shoot? Say, you pause it while in RECORD mode and then it shuts down after 5 minutes? Is it the standby? What about the internal battery? IS that all good and charged as well?

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Maybe it's the standby, but I always have to turn it off and then on again to get it to wake up, unless I'm just retarded and simply need to press zoom or something. Every camera I've ever used has had a power-save auto shutoff function, and I assumed that's what this is. Maybe that's why it broke, too much turning off and on when it was in some sort of standby? As far as the internal battery goes, I wouldnt have any idea how to check it.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

yes, the DVX is set to auto turn off after being in pause for a few minutes, you gotta change a setting in the menus to STBY instead to stop that happening. Man that really used to piss me off as well till i turned auto off off.

Somethings definately meesed up though, as its tinting even the generated blacks in the frame..throw it into 16x9 mode and you will probally see some heavy blue in the black bars.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

There's a bit of blue in the black bars, but more than that there is a huge blue something running down the right side, it's like those cartoons where the winds starts blowing the entire comic strip away. And actually sometimes the thing tints to super-green, it depends on the lighting/coloring of what is central in the frame.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

You can imagine my surprise, I just turned it on to try a black balance, and before I could do anything the thing was back to nornal. I have a normal camera again. ...I think.

I don't know what I would tell the repair people if there is nothing visibly wrong anymore. Oy Vey.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

:D

Hey. No worries. If its all good, its all good! At least you learned about STANDBY! Now go turn that damn function off!

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Gremlins are the only explanation I will buy. But in any case thanks for all the help. It's time for a frantic menu search. I will kill standby if it's the last thing I do.

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

I thought you could only turn to the STBY option if you have a 100a...???

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

We can do black balances in the DVX100? WhERE tha at?

Re: A Vanilla-Flavoured Update

Well you have to hold down the white balance button past the point than what you would hold it for WB. So just hold it down.

Nope, that works in the original DVX100 as well.

Check the manual. If you hold the white balance button in, the white balance sequence will continue into a black balance sequence.
