a true love story.

Okay, you guys might find this corny and overly romantic, but I don't care. I met a girl in Prague recently and completely fell for her. I missed my plane to stay with her longer, and was inspired upon returning home to make a short about it. It's about a minute long. It was conceived, shot and cut in about 4 hours. No CC as I was rushing to finish it to get it to her before she left on a trip.

The little boat in the short has significance for me and her. It was the first gift she gave me.

Anyway, here's the link: www.homepage.mac.com/elanindustries/iMovieTheater19.html

Let me know what you think.

so you were going back to return the boat to the store, right? he he, kidding - but seriously, i liked it! it's nice to see a short about the big L on the forum!

i assume you used a DVX for the actual filming right? who ran cam for ya, assuming you yourself didnt? how was it sneaking shots in the airport? any problems?

as far as the story, i've been there myself, so i get that longing feeling you can have for someone so many miles and bodies of water apart.

p.s. - if you havent seen them yet, rent "before sunrise" and then "before sunset".

nice work, i am sure she loved it!

That is hysterical. Not your film, but I was also involved with a Girl in Prague and Monkey was a pet name of mine (but for someone else)...

Too funny.

Nice piece. You've got good taste in books. Besides the fact you left a camera:) it struck the right mood:)

did u get her number? If i miss a flight for a girl, I woulda got her number....
..I think

Very nice piece, nicely shot and edited.

dude that was fantastic. Congrats on having enough passion not only to drop a plane for love but to make a film about it.

I love hearing about stuff like this.

Hey Guys.

Thanks for all the great compliments. Yes, I got her number. We are planning some things for the future.
Those who can't open it, it may be a QT 7 issue. Try downloading QT 7 from apple.com and you should be fine.

Yeah, it was a QT7 thing - got to watch it finally ...

Nicely done! Very creative. I especially like the shot with the camera inside the bag, the POV of the camera was an execelent idea. And how can you go wrong with U2? Great job!

Oh, and congrats! It sounds like you found someone special ....

THX1138, if you don't mind, i would like to hear about your experiences with filming with the DVX in an airport as it's not huge, but it's not the smallest of cameras either. thanks.

Nothing to it.
It's not a huge airport (Orlando) and we couldn't get to certain areas, like the gates, because we would've had to go through security and that requires a boarding pass. I would have loved to have gotten a shot with some planes moving in the background.
It was quite easy to shoot unnoticed. We used nothing but the camera and there were only 2 of us, so it didn't attract any attention. Anytime someone walked up who seemed like they might stop us we just started acting like we were shooting a home video.
The only time we really got noticed was when we were setting up the shot with the bag POV. A steward was watching and listening to us, but he clearly figured out that we were harmless because he never said anything.
It was all really quite easy. Just don't make a scene... but, of course, do make a scene. After all, that's why you're there.
