A Sure Fire Way to Success!

After several more years than it should have taken, I'll finally have finished up at the University by week's end. But what kind of job will I be able to get after graduation?

Well, I wanted to do something to make myself stand out in this competitive job market, so I made the following video with my DVX, which I've been sending out in e-mails, along with my resume.

Not a bad concept. But I'd change the material to more serious, and the production to more professional. Drop the comedy and cheesy titles.

Then again, this could be a joke and your laughing your head off at me for taking you seriously...

Much success,
Chico

As a comedy piece... it was amusing.

As a serious attempt to get a job... you come across as a mentally-slow slacker.

Yeah, I gotta say that, as a guy who hires & fires, I'd say "pass".

As a comedy piece it's pretty cute, but you would definitely fall to the bottom of the pile of any prospective employer if they saw that.

I laughed! It was hilarious; but am in agreement with the others. Try a new approach.

Question:

Are you trying to get work within the film/video/advertising industry?

Re: A Sure Fire Way to Success!

I was holding back because I was enjoying the confusion, but I'll come clean. The thing was just a weird, absurd little thing I threw together last night. Has no bearing on any kind of reality. Just thought it would be a funny concept. I used to work in HR myself, so I wanted to draw upon all of those weird resumes and calls we'd get. I wanted it to be just realistic enough that you'd wonder "Is it a joke?"

So that's all. Wanted it to be really poorly put together, from the flashy text to the canned music. Oh, and just for the fun of it, I got on Monster.com today and sent it off to a bunch of miscellaneous companies looking for employees in the Boston area. I live in Chicago, so I think I'm at a safe distance from where people will be thinking I'm a bit "off." Should be fun to read the responses, if I get any.

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for letting me seem crazy, if just for a few minutes.
