A Steadicam Head That Allows Everything.

At NAB there were some auzzie guys that developed a steadicam with a head on it that looked like two small hoops.

Inside the hopps you mounted the camera and then no matter where you tilted the arm the shot stayed level.

The idea was that you could get a rising feet to head shot while walking. Or running for that matter.

Anyway, the thing was amazing.

Sadly I cannot remember the name of the company or the product or find any info online.

Does anyone remember this thing and have info or a link.

I'd appreciate the help.

THX.

It looks like the harness and spring loaded parallelogram thing are standard steadicam, this impressive contraption is an add-on. Looks much more pricey than plain vanilla SC...

But if you want to get close to the ground and combine SC & boompole (short one), this is it.

I am not getting one just now...

I talked to one of the guys at NAB. I asked the price. I can't remember exactly but I think it was around 60K. I remember laughing like a goon and then having the guy stoneface me and say, "There's a lot of technology in there, man."

The shots it delivers are insanely great, though. Really wonderful idea.

Yeah, the AR has been around (commercially available) for about a year now.
The prices above dont' include the arm and vest. (or monitor or batteries)

For a full AR & rig system with everything you are looking somewhere around $100k+, plus accessories.

MK-V is a Steadicam clone based in the UK, not Australia.
Personaly I'm not a big fan of MK-V for my own reasons, but the AR is prety impressive and does some neat stuff. ... though I wonder if they have fixed the software yet so that you dont' have to re-boot the system every 15mins.

Uh-oh. Mikko might've just booked a one-way ticket to the Aussie Ass-Kicking Institute...

Sled of Death! Sled of Death!

I got $5 on Mikko.

Great Britain Ass-Kicking Academy just didn't have the same ring to it. For the indiscretion, I'm bumping to $10 on Mikko!

To the Iso-Elastic Chamber of Fire!
