Hey guys, just wanted to post something I shot the other day after I received some new Contax Zeiss lenses.

Anyways enjoy!

On your technical query, the footage looks interlaced (objects doubled when motion is paused) and it shows in the blur. I'm no expert, and can't say how that condition might have been introduced, but that's what it looks like.

The clip is very nicely lit / exposed and quite filmic. Everything is well framed and the narrative is clear. Reality being what it is, far more comments would have been made if the protagonist had been an attractive female. The "spotty youth with morning residue makes himself a cuppa" story doesn't appear to grab around here.

I have three Contax Zeiss lenses (but currently can find only the box for the 50mm 1.4, argh) and your splendid shots give much encouragement for when I get into the swing of using the GH13.

I don't know if I saw the non-features you were referring to... perhaps you could put some time info as to where they are...

In general, my only real comment would be that there were changes in DoF that bothered me. For example in the opening shot, the DoF looks to be about maybe 6 inches
with principle focus on the guy's eyes (of course...). The next shot, everything is in focus, because there is no real depth as the shot is down towards the bed. I would have probably had deeper focus
on the first shot, so that the next shot isn't so obviously 'sharp everywhere'.

Likewise with the cabinet opening sequence. The over the shoulder shot has the shoulder really soft, and the cabinet contents sharp, yet with the 'reaction' shot, the talent is sharp, but so is the rest of the kitchen. That deeper DoF may be a result of having to stop down to prevent the window from blowing out... it also produced an effect of dark talent against the brightness anyway... perhaps a bounce card to
help give something to the talent's face.

When the drink is selected on the carousel I'd probably cut there rather than have the hand (blurry) come in... then you see the hand placing the drink in the machine. I don't think the hand taking the container out of the carousel is needed...

Draw being opened, some of the contents is out of focus due to the DoF...

Shots I don't mind the shallow DoF, the final shot of the talent drinking, the back ground thrown in very soft focus brings the talent out. Outdoor shot as well, the windchime comes out better with the soft background.

I went back and looked at my export settings, and it turns out I accidentally exported at tru 24.00fps, with frame blending on, so that seems to be the problem. Re-exported with the correct 23.978 (or whatever) without frame blending and EVERYTHING is much shaper. Give it another watch if you can, should be uploaded within the hour. Also, I'm sorry I'm not an attractive female, haha. I was the subject in the video, just something I threw together in the morning, but you're right, I'm not the handsomest tool in the shed! Haha. But thanks for the good comments!

I think that's mostly come down to the lens, as those scenes were shot with my tokina 11-16, at F2.8. Unfortunately with that lens if you're not close up, you really don't get very good shallow DoF. But you're right, that's something I'll definitely have to consider in the future when I working between lenses. Thanks for your comments!

The two door opening scenes, and the drawer opening scene are where I see the odd blurring the most. It seems like my arms and hands have a lot of ghosting to them, and that's what I'm wondering about. UPDATE - figured it out, thanks guys!
